At buddies.zone, we want you to be completely satisfied with your subscription. This policy outlines how you can cancel your subscription and request refunds. We strive to make our cancellation and refund processes as straightforward as possible.

2. Subscription Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Here's how the cancellation process works:

  • How to Cancel: You can cancel your subscription through your account settings by navigating to Settings → Billing → Manage Subscription, or by contacting our support team at support@buddies.zone.
  • Effective Date: Your cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access to premium features until that date.
  • No Automatic Renewal: Once cancelled, your subscription will not automatically renew, and you will not be charged for subsequent billing periods.
  • Data Retention: Your account data will be retained after cancellation. You can continue using the free features of buddies.zone or delete your account entirely through account settings.

3. Refund Eligibility

We offer refunds under the following circumstances:

  • 7-Day Satisfaction Guarantee: If you're not satisfied with your subscription, you may request a full refund within 7 days of your initial purchase or renewal. This applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions.
  • Service Issues: If you experience significant technical issues that prevent you from using the service, and we are unable to resolve them within a reasonable timeframe, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund.
  • Duplicate Charges: If you were accidentally charged multiple times for the same subscription period, we will refund the duplicate charges immediately upon verification.
  • Unauthorized Charges: If you believe a charge was made without your authorization, please contact us immediately. We will investigate and issue a refund if the charge was indeed unauthorized.

4. Pro-Rated Refunds

For annual subscriptions cancelled after the 7-day satisfaction guarantee period:

  • Pro-rated refunds may be issued on a case-by-case basis for annual subscription holders who cancel within the first 3 months of their subscription.
  • The pro-rated amount will be calculated based on the remaining unused months in your subscription period.
  • Pro-rated refunds are not automatically granted; please contact our support team to discuss your specific situation.

For monthly subscriptions, pro-rated refunds are generally not available after the 7-day satisfaction guarantee period, as you can simply cancel to prevent future charges.

5. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds are generally not available in the following situations:

  • Requests made more than 7 days after purchase or renewal (except for annual pro-rated refunds as described above)
  • Dissatisfaction with AI-generated nutritional estimates (as noted in our Terms of Service, AI estimates are approximations)
  • Failure to cancel before a renewal date (we send reminder emails before renewals)
  • Change of mind after the 7-day satisfaction guarantee period
  • Account termination due to violation of our Terms of Service
  • Partial months of service already used

6. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact Support: Email us at support@buddies.zone with the subject line "Refund Request" or use the contact form on our website.
  2. Provide Details: Include your account email, the date of the charge, and the reason for your refund request.
  3. Processing Time: We will review your request within 3-5 business days and respond with our decision.
  4. Refund Method: Approved refunds will be credited to the original payment method used for the purchase. Please allow 5-10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your bank.

7. Subscription Plan Changes

If you change your subscription plan:

  • Upgrading: When upgrading from monthly to annual, you will be charged the difference pro-rated for the remaining period.
  • Downgrading: When downgrading from annual to monthly, the change will take effect at the end of your current annual billing period. No partial refunds are issued for downgrades.

8. Currency and Payment Processing

All prices are displayed and charged in USD. Refunds will be issued in the same currency as the original payment. Please note that your bank may apply currency conversion fees, which are not within our control and cannot be refunded.

9. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this refund and cancellation policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via email to active subscribers. The policy in effect at the time of your purchase or renewal will apply to that transaction.
